Parma took another important scalp by picking up a point away to on-form Fiorentina, even forcing some difficult saves out of David De Gea.

The Viola had won four of their last five competitive games, including Thursday’s 2-1 Conference League quarter-final victory away to NK Celje. With the second leg coming up, some squad rotation was necessary, plus Robin Gosens and Andrea Colpani were out injured. Coach Raffaele Palladino sat out a touchline ban. The Ducali had Pontus Almqvist suspended, Valentin Mihaila, Matteo Cancellieri, Gabriel Charpentier, Yordan Osorio, Mateusz Kowalski and Adrian Benedyczak sidelined.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

David De Gea was forced into a desperate reaction save in the opening minutes, as Adrian Bernabe was allowed a free diving header from eight yards on a cross from the left.

Leoni had to take one for the team when Moise Kean intercepted a wayward Alessandro Vogliacco pass in the final third, bringing him down for the yellow card.

Kean sprung the offside trap on a Rolando Mandragora through ball only to sweep wide of the near post as Zion Suzuki came sprinting off his line to narrow the angle.

Nicolò Fagioli spotted Suzuki off his line and tried a cheeky Fiorentina free kick, but the goalkeeper scrambled back to push it over the bar.

De Gea made a sensational reaction save from five yards on Ange-Yoan Bonny, although the Parma striker had wandered offside.

Dodo also tested Suzuki with an angled drive after a strong run, while Amir Richardson had the ball in the net on 74 minutes when surprising the goalkeeper at the near post, but was offside on the Albert Gudmundsson pass.

Dodo ran onto a long ball and lost his balance under pressure from Emanuele Valeri, but any Fiorentina penalty appeals were very timid.
