Cremonese earned their first point in Serie A since May 1996, while Sassuolo missed their injured star, Domenico Berardi, in a 0-0 stalemate at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.

Cremonese hosted Sassuolo on the back of four defeats in a row, while the Neroverdi had collected two draws in the previous two games.

Watch the highlights here.

Alessio Dionisi picked new signing Armand Laurienté to replace the injured Domenico Berardi who will remain out of action for several weeks. Sassuolo did create goal-scoring opportunities (17 shots, 8 on target) and Laurienté was among the best players on the pitch, but the Neroverdi missed that final touch in front of the goal.

Andrea Pinamonti had the first chance of the game, but his header was wide of the right post.

Cremonese hit back with Luca Zanimacchia whose powerful shot from the edge of the box was inches wide on the right.

Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers did find the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside which was evident even without a VAR check.

Maxime Lopez had the best chance of the opening 45 minutes. Pinamonti found the France midfielder all alone in the middle of the area, but the ex-Marseille starlet didn’t hit the ball as well as he’d liked, so Ionut Radu could block it easily.

Sassuolo began the second half strong, but Georgios Kyriakopoulos’ shot was not accurate enough. Radu denied Pinamonti again and Davide Frattesi didn’t make the most of the rebound, sending the ball over the crossbar.

The Inter loanee made another decisive save, deflecting Laurienté’s shot at the near post.

Former Sassuolo defender Vlad Chiriches made his first error in the game, giving away the ball in Cremonese’s final third, but managed to regain possession, stealing the ball from Laurienté inside the box.

Cremonese have earned their first point this season, while Sassuolo have six and have drawn three games in a row for the first time since 2019.
