The Lega Serie A announced the creation of a centralised hub to organise and improve both television coverage and VAR monitoring.

Out of 20 clubs, 18 voted in favour of the move, which will be set at EI Towers in Monza.

“This project represents the first step towards the construction of a Media Company that will allow the Lega Serie A to rationalise the distribution of television signals, decidedly improving the quality (1080p 25 frames per second), the possibility to produce and distribute the top matches in 4K, not to mention the transmission of 12 signals per game that will allow from next season to work on remote production of certain games.

“The same structure, in collaboration with the FIGC, will hold a centralised VAR hub, a project strongly wanted by President Gravina and the Italian Referees’ Association.”

This means rather than a booth near each stadium, there will be one single VAR hub, allowing for particularly tricky situations to be viewed by the chief refereeing designators.

This hub will also be used as a training ground for VAR officials.
