FIGC chief Gabriele Gravina has revealed that the possibility of playoffs and playouts in Serie A is being explored.
Playoffs and playouts in Serie A are currently reserved for just extraordinary cases, when clubs are tied on points, goal difference and head-to-head record at the end of the season.
However, Gravina told Corriere dello Sport: “Football is experiencing a crisis that doesn’t need new rules so much, but rather new change.

However, Gravina told Corriere dello Sport: “Football is experiencing a crisis that doesn’t need new rules so much, but rather new change.
“It has to change direction in a very big way. I’ve talked about playoffs and playouts in Serie A.
“It’s science-fiction right now, but it’s also something that can get us talking. That’s our priority right now.
"There can be a first phase of the season, with 10 teams to play off and 10 to play out, then a second phase that would generate interest.”
