A header from Tasos Douvikas proved enough for Como to end the streak of positive Torino results and lift them well clear of the relegation zone, but there was late VAR drama.

Cesc Fabregas was still trying to break away from the danger zone and had almost a full squad to choose from, missing only Alberto Dossena, with Nico Paz on the bench due to a calf issue. The Granata had just one defeat in their last 14 Serie A games, coming off back-to-back 1-1 draws with Lazio and Verona. Samuele Ricci was suspended, with Nikola Vlasic, Valentin Lazaro, Amine Salama, Zanos Savva, Alieu Njie, Duvan Zapata and Perr Schuurs injured.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Toro threatened early on, as a ball over the top was allowed to bounce and Karol Linetty’s header whistled inches past the far post, while at the other end Assane Diao stung Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s effort at the near post.

Milinkovic-Savic also flew to fingertip a curling Lucas Da Cunha free kick out of the near top corner, but Como broke the deadlock when ex-Torino full-back Mergim Vojvoda got down the right and floated a perfect cross for the towering Tasos Douvikas header.

Como continued to push, as Milinkovic-Savic got down quickly for the one-handed save on an Alberto Moreno daisy-cutter from outside the area.

Che Adams flicked an Eljif Elmas low cross over the bar with the outside of the boot, while Jonathan Ikone fired onto the side-netting from a tricky angle for Como.

Elmas stung the gloves of Jean Butez from the edge of the box, then the goalkeeper used his feet to parry from point-blank range as Gvidas Gineitis came sliding onto the Elmas cross at the back post.

Torino kept pushing in the second half, Elmas forcing another Butez save with his curler, but Milinkovic-Savic also had to fingertip an Edoardo Goldaniga header over the bar from a Como corner.

There was bad news for Como when Sergi Roberto was running onto a through ball and suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his left thigh. The substitute had only been on the pitch for 11 minutes when limping off again.

Oliver Kempf threw himself in the path of Elmas after a loose ball created havoc from 10 yards in the final minutes.

There was drama in stoppages because Cristiano Biraghi slipped taking a corner, Alieu Fadera cleared it to the edge of the area, where Ivan Ilic’s daisy-cutter squirmed through a sea of legs into the far bottom corner. However, it was disallowed by VAR because when he slipped, Biraghi kicked the corner twice and that is not allowed.
