UEFA published their financial report for the 2021-22 season, revealing that the four clubs participating in the Champions League that campaign earnt over €200m.

Securing a top four finish in Serie A is a key objective of the top clubs, aware of the serious financial ramifications it brings. Maurizio Sarri highlighted this after Lazio’s shock 1-0 win over Napoli on Friday, noting how qualifying for multiple years in a row allows a team ‘to make a leap in quality’.

Juventus’ recent 15-point deduction puts them at risk of missing out on a top four finish, a result that undoubtedly affects their plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

As detailed by Calcio e Finanza, Juventus earnt the most out of the Italian clubs in the Champions League in 2021-22, earning just over €77m thanks to their historic ranking and qualification for the Round of 16.

Inter were behind them in second, picking up €62.6m following their Round of 16 qualification, earning less than the Bianconeri due to their historic ranking.

Milan only earnt around €45m after finishing fourth in their group, and Atalanta close to €33m after their group stage exit.
