Yacine Adli will start his first Milan game in nearly one year against Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari and Stefano Pioli will heavily rotate in attack.

It kicks off at 17:30 BST at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari.

Milan have travelled to Sardinia without the injured Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer, Mattia Caldara and Pierre Kalulu. Mike Maignan and Luka Jovic are also not available.

Adli will start as a deep-lying playmaker, completing a three-man midfielder with Tijjani Reijnders and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud will likely start on the bench, with Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze and Noah Okafor starting together for the first time.

Cagliari have only scored one goal in five games, collecting two points.

The Rossoblu must cope without Gianluca Lapadula, Marko Rog, Jakub Jankto, Elio Capardossi, Jacopo Desogus and Marco Mancosu.

Ranieri will likely pick a 3-5-2 formation with Zito Lovumbo and Andrea Petagna up front and Nahitan Nandez favourite over Gabriele Zappa on the right flank.

Cagliari-Milan: probable line-ups

Cagliari (3-5-2): Radunovic; Wieteska, Dossena, Obert; Nandez, Makoumbou, Prati, Sulemana, Augello; Petagna, Luvumbo.

Milan (4-3-3): Sportiello; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Okafor, Chukwueze.
