La Dea had a mixed week, crushing Napoli 3-0 away in Serie A and then losing the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final 1-0 to Fiorentina on Wednesday. Giorgio Scalvini is out for a month, though Charles De Ketelaere returned to the bench after injury ahead of the Europa League quarter-final with Liverpool. Zito Luvumbo stung Marco Carnesecchi’s gloves with a curler and Cagliari looked fresher as the game wore on, turning it around to take the lead when Luvumbo’s cross found a rare Nicolas Viola glancing header into the far bottom corner.
It is a huge result for Claudio Ranieri’s men, who break away four points clear of the drop zone.
