Italy is still leading UEFA’s Association Club Coefficient ranking after the latest European fixtures and is close to earning an extra Champions League spot for next season.

Serie A has a fair chance of having five of its representatives in next season’s Champions League, which will have a new format and involve 36 clubs rather than 32.

The first two countries in UEFA’s Association Club Coefficient ranking for 2023-24 will gain an extra spot in next season’s tournament and Italy is currently leading with 18.428 points.

Serie A clubs stretched their lead on second-placed Germany and third-placed England following midweek European fixtures in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

Last week, Italy had 17.714 points, while now they have 18.428 and earned circa 300 points over their direct rivals. Germany went from 16.357 to 16.785, while England jumped to 16.750 from 16.250

Right now, Roma would benefit from an extra Champions League placement, given that Daniele De Rossi’s side sit 5th in the table. However, Atalanta are just five points below the Giallorossi with a game in hand.
