Juventus had a nightmare start in Bologna and were 3-0 down at the 53rd, but fought back with three goals in eight minutes to snatch a draw on Paolo Montero’s debut.

The Bianconeri made their debut under interim coach Paolo Montero, after a chaotic few days that saw them win the Coppa Italia, then sack Max Allegri for behaviour ‘incompatible with the values’ of the club. Both teams qualified for the Champions League already, so it was a head-to-head for third place.

See how it unfolded on the Liveblog.

Joshua Zirkzee and Lewis Ferguson were injured, with Santiago Castro surprisingly picked upfront, while Mattia De Sciglio and Paul Pogba were the only remaining Juve absentees.

It was immediately apparent who was more fired up for this game, as in the opening minute Wojciech Szczesny made a fingertip save after Remo Freuler robbed Andrea Cambiaso in the box.

Bologna then scored on the resulting corner, which again was not cleared effectively until Riccardo Calafiori fired into the roof of the net with the inside of the left boot.

The pressure did not abate, as two players were there to get their heads to a Dan Ndoye cross at the near post, it came off Kacper Urbanski first and then Santiago Castro to beat Szczesny.

Bologna had the ball in the net for a third time moments later, as Szczesny parried the strike into the path of Jens Odgaard, who was offside.

Juve eventually woke up and just before half-time Cambiaso rolled across from the right for Dusan Vlahovic to come sliding in, denied by a desperate Jhon Lucumi interception.

Adrien Rabiot tested Lukasz Skorupski with a shot deflected off Stefan Posch straight after the restart, but Bologna added a third goal instead.

Calafiori’s high press won the ball back in midfield, Castro saw his attempt to turn blocked off by Danilo, but it ricocheted back into the path of the defender to dink over on-rushing Szczesny.

Nicolò Fagioli made his first appearance of the season as a substitute, after his seven-month ban for illegal gambling had expired over the weekend.

Federico Chiesa gladly accepted a gift from the Bologna defence for 3-1, pouncing on the Lucumi error on the edge of the area to score.

Incredibly, Juve got it back to 3-2 when Kenan Yildiz won a free kick just outside the box and Arkadiusz Milik curled the set play into the near top corner with the aid of a deflection off Giovanni Fabbian.

Bologna barely had time to restart the match when it was 3-3, as Kenan Yildiz harassed Sam Beukema into losing the ball and drilled into the bottom corner from outside the area.

Juventus nearly turned it around completely, as Chiesa completed a rapid give-and-go with Kenan Yildiz at the 88th minute and was dinking it over Skorupski until a desperate Michael Aebischer sliding tackle.

Both teams tried to win it in stoppages, as they remain locked together in third place.
