Atalanta are still top of the table with Napoli after squeezing past Fiorentina with Ademola Lookman’s goal, laid on a silver platter by Luis Muriel.

La Dea needed a victory to stay joint Serie A leaders with Napoli, but missed Juan Musso, Davide Zappacosta, Berat Djimsiti, Duvan Zapata and suspended Jose Luis Palomino. The Viola were without Dodo and Gaetano Castrovilli, while Nico Gonzalez, Pierluigi Gollini, Sofyan Amrabat and Nikola Milenkovic were not at 100 per cent.

Watch the highlights here.

Rolando Mandragora and Lorenzo Venuti had pops from distance, while Marco Sportiello spilled a Riccardo Saponara snapshot and Antonin Barak was unable to pounce on the rebound.

Luis Muriel’s through ball sent Teun Koopmeiners clear, but Pietro Terracciano made himself big for the block one-on-one.

Lucas Martinez-Quarta attempted a back-heel flick from a Cristiano Biraghi free kick, while Ederson should’ve done better when set up by Ademola Lookman.

Terracciano got away with a huge error when he came flying outside his box to clear, but the awkward bounce took the ball over him, Martinez-Quarta getting it away before Muriel could deposit into an empty net.

Lookman and Brandon Soppy stung Terracciano’s gloves, but there was controversy on 40 minutes when the referee flashed a straight red card to Christian Kouame. However, after reviewing it on the VAR monitor, that card was revoked, because Kouame got the ball and did not many any real contact with Marten de Roon’s face.

Rafael Toloi read the move beautifully after the restart to cut off Kouame clear on goal, who had skipped away from two defenders.

Atalanta found the breakthrough when Muriel gathered a throw-in with his back to goal, turned to squirm between Venuti and Martinez-Quarta at the by-line and pull it back for Lookman to tap in from six yards.

Joakim Maehle really should’ve made it 2-0 on 67 minutes, but didn’t keep his cool when one-on-one with Terracciano.

Martinez-Quarta made a decisive block on Lookman and Riccardo Saponara made a mess of trying to turn in Aleksa Terzic’s cross from six yards.

In the final minutes, Sportiello had his gloves stung by Luka Jovic, on an Arthur Cabral lay-off, then Jovic nodded off target.
