With Monza promoted to Serie A, Football Italia looks to the 20 clubs in Italy’s top flight for 2022-23, the key dates and when the new season will begin.

Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza joined Cremonese and Lecce in Serie A after beating Pisa 4-3 in the play-off final last night. They will replace Venezia, Cagliari and Genoa, who were relegated to Serie B in 2022-23.

The Serie A teams for the new season are: Atalanta, Bologna, Cremonese, Empoli, Fiorentina, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Lecce, Milan, Monza, Napoli, Roma, Salernitana, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Spezia, Torino, Udinese, Verona.

The new Serie A campaign will begin on August 13-14 and four games will be played in the first month. The last match of the season will be on June 4, 2023.

The campaign will stop from November 14, 2022, until January 4, 2023, because of the Qatar World Cup, which Italy won’t play. However, Serie A could organise a friendly tournament in the USA while the World Cup is ongoing. There will be one more international break from September 19 until September 27.

  1. This is a cursed world cup. Always have a funny feeling about it from the start and somehow feels like we’re indeed lucky not go there.

  2. The problem, besides in Qatar in December, is many players for top teams may return injured, or just worn out. The leagues of UEFA, and CONCACAF should have protested this from the start.
