The Serie A 2021-22 fixtures have been drawn up, with Milan facing a tough start, while we identify the biggest matches of the season.

For the first time, the calendar is asymmetrical, meaning the second half is not just a mirror image of the first.

Instead, following the example set by the Premier League, Liga and Ligue 1, the 38 individual rounds are all independently put together.

Milan have a difficult start to the season, as they open away to Sampdoria, then host Lazio in Week 3, visit Juventus in Week 4 and travel to Bergamo for Atalanta by Week 7.

Naturally, the fixtures that leap out are the local derbies and there are quite a few in Serie A this season.

Milan and Inter face off in Week 12 (circa November 7) and again in Week 24 (February 6).

The Derby della Capitale between Jose Mourinho’s Roma and Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio will be on Week 6 (September 26) and Week 30 (March 20).

The Derby della Mole has Torino hosting Juventus in Week 7 (October 3) and an Allianz Stadium showdown in Week 26 (February 20).

As for the Derby della Lanterna, Sampdoria and Genoa go head-to-head in Week 17 (December 12) and Week 35 (May 1).

Mourinho’s Roma will host Inter in Week 16 (December 5) and visit San Siro in Week 34 (April 24).

Juventus travel to Inter in Week 9 (October 24) and welcome the Scudetto winners to Turin in Week 31 (April 3).

Milan and Juventus cross paths in Week 4 (September 19) and Week 23 (January 23).
