Sergio Oliveira dropped a hint on social media that the FC Porto midfielder is on the way to Roma for transfer deadline day, but there are mixed reports.
The 29-year-old has started following the Giallorossi on Instagram.
It comes amid reports from Sky Sport Italia that Oliveira is in advanced negotiations for the transfer to Jose Mourinho’s club.
Portuguese transfer expert Pedro Almeida and Sky Sport Italia both claim a deal is very close to completion.
However, there are also reports that his agency denied a move was possible.
A product of the Porto youth academy, Oliveira also had several loan spells, including at FC Nantes and PAOK Salonika.
This would also be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.
The central midfielder had 13 senior caps for Portugal and last season contributed 20 goals and seven assists in 48 competitive matches for his club.
Most notably, that included five goals in eight Champions League matches, when Porto knocked Juventus out of the competition.
In other Roma news, goalkeeper Robin Olsen is in advanced talks with Sheffield United for a loan deal, having previously been linked with Venezia.
