“We need the utmost concentration and, as is only right, Sampdoria won’t do us any favours, so we must earn every point ourselves to complete this journey.

“We got to this stage still in the race thanks also to errors and incidents that helped us to grow. We certainly couldn’t take it for granted that we’d be in with a chance at this stage of the campaign, considering the budget we and the other clubs had. In January, many assumed we were already relegated.”

Semplici has a lot of selection problems, because Everton Luiz, Bartosz Salamon and Thiago Cionek are suspended, with Alex Meret and Marco Borriello injured.

SPAL are level on 35 points with Crotone, but have a superior head-to-head record.
