Former SPAL coach Leonardo Semplici has revealed that he wants a fair end to the Serie A 2019-20, hoping to avoid the suggested play-off and play-out.

As the League has been suspended after 26 games, there are many hypotheses regarding how to decide who wins the championship and who will have to take the step down a division.

One of them has been to decide the winner through a play-off between the top four and the releagtion through a play-out for the sides in the bottom.

One of them has been to decide the winner through a play-off between the top four and the releagtion through a play-out for the sides in the bottom.

“Today, all the hypotheses are plausible, but I hope we will be able to continue the season, to resume the path without playoffs and playouts,” Semplici told Radio Sportiva. “Otherwise it would create situations that are not fair for all the teams.”

Semplici was replaced by Luigi Di Biagio in Ferrara this term and his former team are currently 19th in Serie A, with a seven-point gap up to Genoa currently outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

SPAL beat Parma 1-0 in their last game carried out behind closed doors on March 8, before Serie A suspended all action.
