Speaking after the 3-2 win over the Pitagorici, Semplici admitted it had been a tough recent period for his players.

“I saw the boys in good shape this week,” the Coach told reporters.

“I looked to choose the players who would give me the certainty of playing a great match.

“I need to thank all the group after a tough period, they have enabled me to bring home this very important win.”

Semplici praised the togetherness of his players in the face of adversity after SPAL’s eight-match winless run ended in Calabria.

“We want to stay up, we know that it is an uphill struggle but in the difficult times we have come together.

“When you coach a newly promoted team certain things can happen.

“Our strength has been that we always think about working hard, believing in our ideas that will enable us to reach safety at the end of the season.”
