Cagliari coach Leonardo Semplici blames ‘individual mistakes’ for the Sardinians’ defeat against Genoa.

Cagliari were 2-0 up with 30 minutes remaining but goals from Mattia Destro and Mohamed Fares gave Genoa all three points at the Sardegna Arena.

“We have had several problems during the week, with many players injured, Pavoletti for example was not eligible to play,” Semplici told DAZN.

“Walukiewicz also sustained an injury during the game and was replaced by Caceres.

“We saw a good Cagliari for 60 minutes then individual mistakes led to this result. I’m glad the transfer window is over so I can work with the group.

“The season has started, we need self-esteem and do not think about today’s result, it was really bad.”
