There was controversy around the 1-0 victory at San Siro secured by Hakan Calhanoglu, as Barca had penalty appeals waved away in stoppages for a potential handling offence.

The Blaugrana spent the last week protesting the incident in the media and threatening to lodge a formal appeal to UEFA.

“It is part of their culture, so I am not remotely surprised,” former Real Madrid, Inter and Milan midfielder Seedorf told Amazon Prime Italia.

“They have always done it and Xavi in particular had that habit even as a player. They always crowd around the referee and complain about absolutely anything, so it puts pressure on the officials.”

Milito, who won the Treble with Inter and played in Spain for Real Zaragoza, agreed with Seedorf’s assessment.

“It’s true, Barcelona protest systematically on the field and off. I remember defenders who used to sprint 40 metres to the other end of the pitch to protest in the face of the referee.”
