Maurizio Sarri allegedly targeted a Verona staff member by showing his middle finger during Lazio‘s 2-0 today.

The Biancocelesti had taken the lead through Ciro Immobile since a few minutes when Sarri reportedly clashed with a Verona staff member at minute 73.

According to DAZN, Sarri argued with Verona’s team manager Alessandro Mazzola, a former midfielder of Parma, Torino and Verona.

The image of Sarri showing his middle finger has quickly become viral on social media.

The ex-Napoli and Juventus boss was involved in a similar incident in 2018 when he made the same gesture toward a group of Old Lady’s fans from the Napoli team bus while arriving at the Allianz Stadium for a key Serie A fixture, eventually won by the Partenopei.

Lazio beat Verona 2-0 this evening, with Luis Alberto scoring the second goal of the day for Sarri’s men.

At the end of the match, Sarri clarified that he argued with Verona director Francesco Marroccu, claiming that he thought Marroccu had told him ‘sit down.’ (read more here)
