Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly watched Napoli yesterday and congratulated his ex-teammates following their 5-2 win over Hellas Verona.

The Partenopei started the season on the right foot, scoring five goals at the Stadio Bentegodi on Monday. Koulibaly spent eight seasons in Naples before this summer’s €40m move to Chelsea.

He still has a close bond with his former teammates and coach Luciano Spalletti and proved his affection with an Instagram story.

Koulibaly published a screen from Napoli’s game in Verona, tagging the goalscorers and writing ‘Bravi ragazzi’ (‘Well done boys’).

The Senegal international scored his first goal for the Blues in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham. He has signed a contract until June 2026 at Stamford Bridge.
