The second strand of the Prisma investigation, looking into Juventus’ salary manoeuvres and suspicious partnerships, is now drawing to a close.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how investigators are expected to notify the conclusion of their strand of the investigation between Friday and Monday next week, allowing things to move onto the next stage.

Regarding the clubs involved in alleged suspicious partnerships with Juventus, some prosecutors around the country have already started their own investigations, including in Cagliari, Genoa and Bologna.

Parallel to the capital gains investigation is the one into the so-called ‘salary manoeuvre’, when Juventus secretly agreed to pay players’ wages in the early stages of the COVID pandemic despite publicly announcing that they had been waived.

The players involved in this do risk a month’s disqualification, but only if direct responsibility for the signing of the documents is proven.

For Juventus, they could be handed a large fine for their alleged malpractices, although Article 31 of the Sporting Justice code says penalties could also be applied in the Serie A table, such as a points deduction.

This stand of the investigation would lead to a separate trial, possibly including the other involved clubs – Bologna, Sampdoria, Cagliari, Atalanta and Sassuolo – which would likely be held at the end of 2023, with appeals and verdicts arriving the following year.
