Exams undergone by Zlatan Ibrahimovic this morning confirmed a calf injury, so the Swede’s season is likely over with growing doubts about his future with the Rossoneri.

The 41-year-old suffered a muscle injury during the warm-up of Sunday’s 2-0 win over Lecce at San Siro.

Milan sources claim the striker underwent medical checks this morning and the outcome wasn’t good for the Rossoneri and their forward.

The striker has suffered a new calf injury and according to multiple reports in Italy, this means that his season is likely over. Calciomercato.com claims it takes two to four weeks to return to training after such an injury and even more to get back in shape for a competitive match.

Ibrahimovic underwent knee surgery a year ago and has only played 143 minutes across all competitions this season, finding the net against Udinese and becoming the oldest goalscorer in Serie A.

His contract with the Rossoneri expires at the end of the season and it remains to be seen if Milan will offer him a new deal.
