Julian Alvarez is the hottest property on the transfer market in Argentina, already capturing the attention of Juventus, Milan, Fiorentina, Tottenham and others, so we look at the River Plate striker.

The 21-year-old centre-forward can also play on the right or left of a trident attack and already has four senior caps for Argentina to his name, participating in the Copa America-winning campaign.

The contract only runs to December 31, 2022, making him an ideal prospect for a summer swoop.

It’s reported there is a €25m release clause in the contract, so he could be available for less than that.

Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina battle for River starlet Alvarez

A product of the River Plate academy, Alvarez was promoted to the senior team in January 2019.

He has an impressive 27 goals and 23 assists in 88 competitive matches for the Milionarios, making his debut in the Copa Libertadores Final against Boca Juniors in 2018.

Despite his tender age, Alvarez has already won the Copa America, Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana and Copa de Argentina.

River Plate are trying to offer him a new, extended contract, but the offers are piling up from Europe, including Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham, Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina.

Right-footed, Alvarez brings pace, technique and a decent free kick to the table, but at 1.70 metres tall, not exactly an aerial threat.

“Alvarez is the prototype of the modern player that everyone wants,” David Trezeguet told Radio Supermitre.

“He gives his all, doesn’t get tired, keeps his feet on the ground and doesn’t seek controversy. This lad is a gem it’s difficult to find in South America, he has all the technical qualities that they like in Europe.”
