The road to Euro 2024 qualification continues this month and these Scotland vs. Spain predictions form part of a busy schedule in the coming days. La Roja are finding their feet under new boss Luis de la Fuente, with Scotland pushing to reach back-to-back European Championships.

Scotland vs. Spain odds

1 – Spain to win – 8/11

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 3/4

3 – Both teams not to score – 4/5

4 – Alvaro Morata to score anytime – 2/1

5 – Spain to win 2-0 – 13/2

If Spain do manage to qualify for Euro 2024 in Germany they will be hoping to go a little further after losing out in the semi-finals at Euro 2020.

Luis Enrique opted to stay on with La Roja for the 2022 World Cup but the former Barcelona head coach stepped down after the tournament, with Luis de la Fuente promoted from the U21s.

Despite his lack of senior experience, the new head coach will be expected to ease to an automatic qualification spot, with high hopes of a routine victory at Hampden Park.

Aside from a group stage loss to Japan, Spain have only lost once in competitive action (inside 90 minutes) in the last 12 months, with away wins against both Switzerland and Portugal. Scotland missed out on a spot in Qatar but they will be confident of battling with Norway for second place in the group.

Spain’s 7-0 hammering of Costa Rica was an anomaly of Enrique’s tenure in 2022, with La Roja failing to score over 2.5 goals in their other nine competitive matches either side of that freak result.

Despite some key squad absences, de la Fuente will also be looking to maintain their solid defensive record, with Enrique’s final eight competitive matches featuring just four goals scored against, at an average rate of 0.5 per game.

A trip to Glasgow will present some challenges for de la Fuente’s early reign with Spain. But the experience of Atletico Madrid star Alvaro Morata will be a key boost for the visitors. The experienced forward has 30 goals in 61 international appearances, at an almost perfect one goal per two matches ratio – and he has found the back of the net in three of his last five games for Spain.
