Lasse Schone has established himself in the starting line-up at Genoa but admitted that it “was difficult” to settle in Italy.

The Denmark international arrived from Ajax last summer and has played 21 games in Serie A during his first season in Genoa.

But the 33-year-old has revealed it was hard to settle in his new surroundings but insisted that him and his family are starting to settle.

“It was difficult at first,” he told the club’s official website. “When you move from one country to another, you have to adapt to how things work in the new country.

“My children miss their friends but now we enjoy all things Italy has to offer. We are settling in.”

He claimed that he knew what to expect when he accepted the offer at the Rossoblu and has revealed that compatriot Lukas Lerager helped steer him towards the Marassi.

“I knew that the fans are always there for the team and I like it,” he said. “I like it a lot, because I don’t like playing in empty stadiums.

“I spoke to Lerager, who was here before me, and he confirmed the warmth of the club and this helped me make the decision to move.

“When you join a new club, you care about everything, to help you answer the questions correctly.”
