The 34-year-old Denmark international was an important member of the Grifoni squad under Davide Nicola, who helped them stay up last term, and his agent believes Rolando Maran wanted to have the veteran available.

But everything changed with new sporting director Daniele Faggiano and Schone’s agent Kanhai, who had informed the Rossoblu about the midfielder’s desire to fight for a spot in the team, was fuming when he learned the player is not registered to play in Serie A.

“The coach explained that he sees Lasse as a starter, but the new sporting director thinks differently. He made some purchases in that position and explained that it would have been difficult for Schone to find a place,” Kanhai told Voetbal Niuews.

“It’s possible, but Lasse has experience, and he is used to fighting for a spot, but we have been working on different scenarios. In the last week we talked to the directors and explained he would stay to fight for a place in the team.

“The directors agreed, until we found out that Lasse was not on the list to play in Serie A. He talked to Maran, who wanted him in the team, but not the new manager who has brought in his players.

“He probably has other interests and is afraid of the strong influence that Lasse has on the team. It was evident in the last few weeks.

“It’s a scandal that we were not informed of his absence from the list before the end of the transfer market. We would have terminated the contract and chosen a new club, there were many possibilities.

“It’s terrible how the club has dealt with him. He played 34 games last season, had three coaches and managed to avoid relegation for a bad team. And now this! It will not be the last chapter…”
