The former Ajax midfielder was talking at a press conference for Denmark ahead of their game against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, and commented on Genoa's position.
"I am far from satisfied with our start to the season. I was expecting a few more points, but luckily we have grown recently, and put in two good performances against Juventus and Napoli, the two best sides in the league. I am convinced we will get through this difficult period and reverse our fortunes."
Genoa sat in the bottom three for most of the season, but have edged their way out under new boss Thiago Motta.
"I am not afraid of relegation. I believe we can secure safety. I am sure that with the new coach, we will achieve our targets."
Genoa take on Torino after the international break.
