The 33-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and complete the transfer.
“My love for the Ajax jersey is clear for everyone to see,” the Denmark international told reporters after a 2-2 draw with Vitesse.

“I am not saying goodbye, but arrivederci. It was a very difficult decision, I had long conversations with my wife and my family. Ajax know how much I love the club and the marvellous time I had here, reaching its apex last season with the Champions League semi-final.
“That made it more difficult to leave, but even if I am 33 years old now, Genoa have plans for me. They are looking for a No 6 in their midfield and I’ll fill that role.”
