Benfica coach Roger Schmidt warns not to judge Juventus on their Serie A form, but they’ll still attack in the Champions League clash.

It kicks off on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

The Bianconeri started their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 defeat to PSG, while Benfica swept past Maccabi Haifa 2-0.

“Obviously it’s going to be a difficult game, for the quality of the opposition players, the experience of their coach, as Juventus are a big club,” said Schmidt in a press conference.

“They are struggling in Serie A at the moment, but we know they are capable of huge performances in Europe. We believe in ourselves, that we can play at a high level, and will do everything possible.

“Every game is different, we are not the favourites here, but we have a good chance of getting a result. We want to be courageous and do our best to get a result.

“We want to be attacking and prove we’re up to the task.”

Juventus coach Max Allegri said this fixture was “important, but not decisive,” and Schmidt feels the same way for Benfica’s Champions League prospects.

“The group phase is very short, only six games, so we need to make the most of every opportunity to pick up points.”
