Kasper Schmeichel insists Leicester City ‘will be ready’ for Napoli in the Europa League clash tomorrow. ‘It’s a big club coming here.’
It kicks off on Thursday at the King Power Stadium at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).
“It’s a big club coming to the KP. They have been over the last 10 years challenging some of the best teams in the world. We know they can be dangerous. We will be ready for that,” assured the goalkeeper and captain during his press conference.
Napoli have had an ideal start to the Serie A season with new boss Luciano Spalletti, winning all three rounds, including Saturday’s 2-1 over Juventus.
Although Leicester are still known abroad for their astonishing Premier League victory under Claudio Ranieri, they have continued to impress in English football.
They finished fifth in the league last season and won the FA Cup, beating Chelsea in the Final.
“We want to get as far as we can. We feel we can go far. European football isn’t easy to achieve, so we’re going to make the most of it.”
Napoli fans will not be travelling to Leicester due to COVID restrictions, so Schmeichel hopes to make the most of the home advantage.
“I’m hoping for another special night. We haven’t had too many, but the ones we’ve had I thoroughly enjoyed. Being in the competition without fans last season, it detracted from the experience, those evenings.”
