Patrik Schick is lighting up Euro 2020 for the Czech Republic and admits he ‘wasn’t 100 per cent ready’ for his big move to Roma.

The 25-year-old first made his mark at Sampdoria in 2016, earning a transfer worth over €42m to Roma in 2017.

However, he failed to settle and was eventually loaned to RB Leipzig before his sale to Bayer Leverkusen.

“I was 20 years old when I arrived in Italy,” said Schick after his three goals in two Euro 2020 matches.

“The first season at Sampdoria was very good. Then I moved to Roma, one of the most important clubs in Italy. There were so many expectations around me and I was just a kid.

“Perhaps I wasn’t 100 per cent ready for that move. These things can happen in football. I don’t know what was wrong, but maybe I just wasn’t ready.”
