Milan President Paolo Scaroni insists Serie A stadiums must reopen at full capacity to avoid further financial losses for clubs.

“Stadium revenues account for about a third of club revenues, so not having had them for so many months was a deadly financial blow,” Scaroni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Milan earn €40m from stadium revenues, you can understand the impact on our finances.

“Stadiums must return to full capacity, as they are doing in England, France or Spain, with a Green Pass required as guarantee.”

The Italian Government has given the all-clear for stadiums to be open at 50 per cent capacity, but Scaroni believes it is not enough, even because the capacity could be lower if the one-meter rule for social distancing is applied.

Scaroni shares the same view as Inter CEO Beppe Marotta, who claimed last week that the rule must be scrapped.

“I think 50 per cent capacity is not enough as we would still suffer a financial loss,” Scaroni continued.

“At least it must be a real 50%, that’s something we’ve discussed with President Gravina and Dal Pino.

“If we can’t even be assured of that, then we’ll need financial aid from the Government, we don’t understand why we can’t have the same rights as the others.

“There is still uncertainty, we are at a standstill in terms of tickets and season tickets campaigns, we must know what to do by next week.”
