More details are emerging after Genoa striker Gianluca Scamacca’s father went on a rampage at the Roma training ground with a tyre iron, as it seems he wanted to attack Bruno Conti.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at circa 19.30 local time, when a youth team was training at the Trigoria ground.

According to La Repubblica, 45-year-old Emiliano Scamacca broke down the barrier with his car, then got out with a tyre iron and began randomly smashing the windows of at least four or five cars, including those of directors Tiago Pinto and Morgan De Sanctis.

He even broke the statue of a wolf that decorates the entrance to the training ground.

The reasons for his rampage aren’t entirely clear, but La Repubblica claims Scamacca was looking for director Bruno Conti, feeling he was owed money.

When police arrived, he also smashed one of the lights on their vehicle before he was immobilised.

It’s claimed Scamacca was wearing a Sassuolo sweatshirt, the club that owns his son, and was taken to hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Gianluca Scamacca started his career in the Roma youth academy, but has not been linked with them for several years.
