There is good news for Atalanta, as Gianluca Scamacca is back in training and expected to be in the squad for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Sporting CP.

It kicks off at the Estadio Alvalade in Lisbon on Thursday at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

The Italy international has made four Serie A appearances for La Dea this season and found the net twice, but he pulled up during the 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina on September 17 with a left thigh strain.

He was expected to be out of action for at least a month, possibly more, but seems to be recovering ahead of schedule.

Scamacca took part in the full training session today with the rest of his teammates and Sky Sport Italia report he is likely to be in the squad travelling to Lisbon for the Europa League fixture.

The former West Ham United and Sassuolo striker has missed games against Rakow, Cagliari, Verona and Juventus.

If he is able to participate on Thursday, then the only remaining absentee for Atalanta is centre-forward El Bilal Toure, who is yet to make his official debut for the club.
