Gianluca Scamacca’s relationship with Alessandro Lucci has ended with a ‘lack of trust’ and it isn’t the first time the West Ham striker has parted ways with an agent under a cloud after his previous agreement saw a legal battle and investigation that involved Leonardo Bonucci, Daniele De Rossi and Dejan Kulusevski.

Lucci’s World Soccer Agency confirmed they had parted ways with Scamacca on Tuesday with an official statement published on social media.

The Italy striker had chosen Lucci in May 2021, dropping his previous representative Paolo Paoloni. Scamacca had appealed to CONI Collegio Di Garanzia, asking to cancel the contract with Football Trade, owned by Paoloni, ‘for just cause.’

The reply from Paoloni came thick and fast, claiming that if CONI rejected Scamacca’s request, the contract with Lucci would not be valid. However, the Court of Appeal accepted the striker’s appeal claiming that he had the right to cancel his contract with his previous representative.

However, it was not the end of the story as the FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè investigated Lucci’s methods to put new clients under contract.

The investigation began following a lawsuit from the Association of Italian agents, saying Lucci used some of his most notable clients, such as Leonardo Bonucci and Daniele De Rossi, to pressure their teammates to leave their agents and choose him as their new representative.

Several Serie A players picked Lucci as their new agent between 2020 and 2021, including Dejan Kulusevski, Scamacca and Edin Dzeko.

Italian TV program Report also tried to shed light on the matter, interviewing the Roma legend, who said: “I’ve never spoken to Scamacca in my life, I don’t even have his mobile No. It’s not a war between agents and I am not siding with any of them.”

Lucci added: “A player has the right to talk to other colleagues because a dressing room is like Big Brother. If Kulusevski changes agents, it’s normal that he speaks to somebody else. It would be better to talk about those paying money to get new clients.”

Kulusevski joined Juventus from Atalanta in 2020 and remained at the Allianz Stadium until January 2022, when he joined Tottenham on loan with an option to buy.

The eventual FIGC trial was dismissed and Lucci was declared unconnected with the facts.
