Michail Antonio says his West Ham teammate Gianluca Scamacca is not a fighter and ‘can’t play’ the way David Moyes wants, while Juventus and Milan are reportedly considering a bid for the Italy international.
Scamacca has scored eight goals in 27 appearances with the Hammers this season but spent the second part of the campaign on the treatment table due to a knee injury which he treated with surgery in mid-April.
His teammate Antonio discussed Scamacca’s struggles at West Ham with the Filthy Fellas podcast, saying: “He can’t play the way the gaffer plays. With David Moyes, you have to feed off scraps, be a fighter… and that’s not him.”
Scamacca’s contract in East London expires in June 2027, but multiple sources in Italy claim a return to Serie A is on the cards.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Milan and Juventus are considering a move for the former Sassuolo striker, who could leave West Ham on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
This past May, Corriere dello Sport claimed that strugglers Salernitana could also make an offer in the summer if they sell Boulaye Dia. However, a move to the Stadio Arechi appears to be an unlikely option for the 24-year-old striker.
Scamacca has played for Genoa and Sassuolo in Serie A, scoring 24 goals in 65 appearances in Italy’s top flight.
