Gianluca Scamacca is sought after in the Premier League and Bundesliga, but the Sassuolo striker insists his ‘priority is to continue in Serie A,’ giving Inter, Milan and Juventus hope.

The striker scored twice in today’s 3-1 victory away to Bologna, along with a Domenico Berardi bicycle-kick at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

This has been the breakout campaign for Scamacca, who is tipped to lead the Italy squad in future rather than Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, and he credits coach Alessio Dionisi for this growth.

“I didn’t have that much experience, so I thought only the statistics needed to speak for me, but a modern striker has to play for his teammates too. A goal is an added bonus, but the important thing is to play for the team,” Scamacca told Sky Sport Italia.

He has been linked with amongst others Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Inter, Milan and Juventus.

“I think my priority now is to make my mark in Italy. Having said that, the transfer market is somewhat unpredictable. When the time comes to make a decision, I’ll try to make the best one.

“Serie A is of a very high level and my priority is to continue here. Others will then evaluate and we’ll see what happens.”

  1. He’s talented, he’s Italian and I do want more Italians in Milan, I prefer it that way, but he’s not worth 40m today, not even considering his potential.

I’d spend that kind of money on Nunez of Benfica.

  2. Glad to hear his comments. Despite the World Cup debacle, Serie A is actually on the rise and needs its best young Italians playing in top teams. Make it happen.

  3. @Milan Fan Is Jack Grealish worth 130m? For a quality player his age, I think that’s a fair amount. I do hope Scamacca, Berardi and Raspadori move to Serie A clubs that play regularly in Europe as it will help Italy.

Premier League prices are bloated already, add in an English player to the mix and you get those ridiculous numbers. Still remember Andy Carroll to Liverpool for 40m.

Maybe I’m wrong about Scamacca though. I’d love for him to succeed in every way.

The point is that for Manchester City 130m are trifles while 40m for the Italian clubs at the moment are prohibitive. But with money plus a few young prospects it can be done..
This is the main reason for the difficulties of the Italian teams against the European elites.
