Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini has been elected as the best Italian U21 player at the Golden Boy Awards on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Boy Awards ceremony will take place on December 4, but the award winners have now been officially announced.
Scalvini comes off the back of an impressive calendar year for club and country, establishing himself as a reliable first-team starter for both Atalanta and Italy.
The 19-year-old was called upon on 32 occasions as Atalanta recorded a fifth-place finish in Serie A in 2022-23 and has started in all but one of their league matches so far this season.
Despite still being a teenager, he has also already been capped seven times, four of which have come in 2023.
Scalvini was also included in the top 10 for the Golden Boy Absolute Best award, ranking seventh overall. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham was handed the titular award on Friday.
Elsewhere, Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli was awarded with the prize for Greatest Challenge of the Year for his involvement in Napoli’s Scudetto-winning campaign in 2022-23.
