Javier Saviola is widely expected to leave Hellas Verona this summer for his old club River Plate.

The 33-year-old forward was a surprise arrival at the Bentegodi on transfer deadline day, but struggled for playing time.

He played in just 15 Serie A games, scoring one goal, and many of those were brief substitute appearances.

According to A Bola, Saviola is heading to River Plate for a reunion with Coach Marcelo Gallardo.

He started his career at River Plate back in July 1998, before beginning a long and well-travelled career at the likes of Barcelona, Monaco, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Benfica, Malaga and Olympiacos.
