Genoa coach Davide Ballardini’s deal was automatically renewed after securing safety, but patron Enrico Preziosi might still decide to sack the tactician.

The Rossoblu were 19th in Serie A when Preziosi decided to part ways with Rolando Maran after only six months in charge and became the second team to have changed coach this term.

A familiar face for the Grifone fans was brought in to replace the former Cagliari coach, as Ballardini returned for his fourth period at the Marassi.

Ballardini helped the Rossoblu to safety and his contract with the Ligurians was thus automatically renewed.

Genoa currently sit 14th in Serie A and could still climb further with a win over Cagliari tomorrow.

But Tuttomercatoweb claims Ballardini must meet with President Enrico Preziosi next week to discuss the future and could still face the sack this summer.

Preziosi could decide to change route, as he reportedly wants a top name to the club this summer, with the report mentioning a possible move for Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juric.
