Gad Cohen, an intermediary who worked with the Saudi Pro League this summer, opened up about Marcelo Brozovic’s move and what could happen with Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
A long list of players decided to switch Europe for the Middle East this summer after multiple Saudi clubs emerged with lucrative offers. Many followed in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, including players like Riyadh Mahrez and Neymar.
Eight Serie A players left Italy for Saudi Arabia this summer, with the two top examples being Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s move to Al-Hilal and Marcelo Brozovic’s transfer to Al-Nassr.
Speaking to Tuttosport via TMW, Cohen first claimed that the Saudi Pro League would soon be one of the best in the world.
“The truth is that the Saudi Arabian league is already one of the best in the world. And it will be more and more so, even if this seems to annoy a lot.
“By next season the level will be the same as in Europe. If we then go and see where the winners of the Ballon d’Or play, it certifies that Saudi Arabia is already on a par with the big leagues.”
He gave his thoughts on Pogba’s possible move to Saudi Arabia in the future.
“The Frenchman’s profile is certainly interesting. So why not, he could be one of the future stars of the league. But he will have to prove his qualities again this season at Juventus, showing the world that he is a top player.”
The market intermediary also commented on the idea of seeing Lukaku in the Saudi Pro League.
“Sometimes there are situations that you don’t fully understand. I think Romelu is happy at Roma now, but never say never. No one knows the future. And should I receive a call from him, we will see how to act.”
He opened up about Brozovic’s initial hesitations to leave Inter for Al-Nassr this summer.
“Initially he was not inclined to accept the offer he received. But then, discussion after discussion, his mind changed, with Marcelo enthusiastically accepting the new project. Sometimes there are offers that are simply impossible to refuse.”
Finally, Cohen explained how Brozovic’s move was finalised.
“The player had been followed by the Riyadh club for some time. They considered him perfect to raise the quality of the squad. So, thanks to the excellent relationship I cultivated with the club, we helped them to close the deal.”
