Roma owners the Friedkins will meet with a group of Saudi investors and businessman Raffaello Follieri this week to discuss a possible sale of the club.

The Friedkin Group CEO Dan Friedkin has been the chairman and owner of the Giallorossi since 2020, purchasing the club for around €591m from James Pallotta.

A year after the takeover, the club appointed world-famous coach Jose Mourinho, who guided the team to their first ever major European title in the Europa Conference League. Roma are now fighting for a Champions League qualification spot and have reached the Europa League semi-finals.

As detailed by Corriere dello Sport, a group of Saudi investors and businessman Follieri will sit down to have an exploratory meeting with the Friedkins this week, interested in purchasing the club, who have an estimated value of around €1 billion.

The inclusion of Follieri, who once dated actress Anne Hathaway, may raise some eyebrows. The businessman was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in the United States in 2008 for his involvement in a $50m investment scam.

Over the last few years, Follieri has already tried to enter the world of football a number of times, failing to purchase clubs like Palermo, Catania and Foggia.
