Inter owned talent Martin Satriano discussed his ambitions with the Nerazzurri, his thoughts on Lautaro Martinez and his experiences on loan with Empoli.

The 21-year-old Uruguayan forward left the Milanese club for Empoli on loan in the summer, keen to continue his development with regular first team football. Things have started fairly well for Satriano, who has looked good on the pitch and netted one goal in nine league appearances so far.

Speaking to SportWeek, Satriano first reflected on his move to Italy two years ago.

“In January I was in training camp with Nacional’s first team when Inter arrived. I immediately said yes because my dream was to play in Europe. There are the strongest players here.

“I put Serie A right after the Premier League. I’d like to play in the Premier League because it’s the most beautiful league, but I think I can adapt to any type of football.”

He commented on his progress with the Inter Primavera team and if he regrets not being given a chance with the first team.

“I would like to return to Inter, but to play. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I feel ready. And, on the other hand, you only learn by playing.”

He spoke about Cesare Casadei’s move to Chelsea in the summer.

“Cesare is younger than me, he did well to go to Chelsea. This year he will have the chance to train with great champions, next year, maybe he can find minutes in a smaller team.”

Satriano gave his thoughts on Nerazzurri star forward Lautaro.

“Lautaro I feel is closer to my characteristics. aggressive, ‘bad’, when he doesn’t score goals he gets angry like me. In training we used to talk a lot, he would give me advice, try to go like this, hit the ball this way.

“Sometimes we would challenge each other. I’m very competitive, I like to bet with my fellow attackers with the goalkeepers, it helps me to do better and better.”

He touched on his relationships with Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi.

“They spoke to me a lot. They appreciated the fact that I am someone who never gives up, who chases even a ball that seems lost. They told me not to lose this characteristic of mine.”

Finally, Satriano spoke about which of those two coaches shouts more on the touchline.

“It’s a good fight. They’re two who push a lot with their voices. But coach Zanetti, here at Empoli, also makes himself heard.

“He asks us strikers to press hard. It’s indispensable for our way of playing, which requires us to win the ball back quickly.”
