With Lazio intercepting talks for Verona’s Matteo Cancellieri, Sassuolo have turned towards Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini.
Multiple sources including Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia reported this evening that Sassuolo had been on the verge of signing Cancellieri from Verona for €6m plus bonuses.
However, today Lazio dived in with a superior offer of €7.5m plus add-ons and the 20-year-old is also in favour of working with coach Maurizio Sarri.
It’s believed he could even undergo his medical with the Biancocelesti tomorrow.
That means Sassuolo need a different target and Calciomercato.com point them towards Bologna winger Orsolini instead.
The 25-year-old does not have a good rapport with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and is famously very inconsistent, but still contributed seven goals and four assists in 30 competitive games for Bologna this term.
Orsolini is under contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara until June 2024 and has also been linked with Torino, Sampdoria and Napoli over the last few weeks.
