Nicolás Schiappacasse was arrested in Uruguay for alleged weapon charges.
The 23-year-old joined the Neroverdi in the summer of 2021 but was supposed to extend his loan at Penarol after an injury.
Montevideoportal in Uruguay reports the striker was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon yesterday. He should remain in jail for at least 24 hours.
According to the report, Schiappacasse had a 9mm gun in his car when Police stopped him for a routine check.
Schiappacasse was heading to the stadium with three friends to watch a friendly encounter between Penarol and Nacional.
Schiappacasse reportedly told Police that he was supposed to give the gun to a person attending the game at the stadium.
A Police report quoted by El Pais claims Schiappacasse tried to get rid of the weapon while Police officers were approaching his vehicle.
One of the other three people arrested is reportedly known to the Police for drug-related crimes.
