It’s reported Sassuolo have agreed terms with Gremio midfielder Matheus Henrique, who is seen as the replacement for Manuel Locatelli, in a deal worth €12m plus bonuses.

The 23-year-old is currently representing Brazil at the Tokyo Olympics, but already has one senior cap for the Seleçao.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sassuolo have chosen Matheus Henrique to be the heir for Juventus-bound Locatelli this season.

Gremio directors are believed to already be in Italy for advanced negotiations, but the clubs have basically agreed a deal and are working on the details.

It’s going to be a transfer worth €12m plus €3m in add-ons and various bonuses.

He will then sign a four-year contract with the Neroverdi.

Matheus Henrique scored three goals and provided one assist in 22 games for Gremio last season, finding the net in Serie A, the Campeonato Gaucho and the Copa Sudamericana.

There were links with Ajax for a move to Europe in 2020, but he remained with Gremio.
