Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali confirms the Neroverdi have begun initial contacts for Milan, Inter and Arsenal target Gianluca Scamacca although they still haven’t received concrete offers.

The Italy striker has emerged as one of the hottest commodities in the summer transfer windows, with many top clubs linked with securing his services.

However, Sassuolo director Carnevali has now confirmed that the Neroverdi have not received concrete offers from any club.

“Our desire is to keep most players in the team, and there is nothing concrete for now,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.

“There have been some contacts with some clubs for Scamacca and others. Perhaps the national team will make the interest grow.”

Domenico Berardi, Giacomo Raspadori, Davide Frattesi and Hamed Traore are among the Sassuolo players linked with moves to big clubs, while Italy starlet Wilfried Gnonto is a potential target for the Neroverdi.

“We need to wait for young players and give them a chance in Serie A,” Carnevali added.

“We had made contact to sign him some time ago, it’s part of our philosophy. We must give these guys a chance to play. Otherwise, the national team won’t reach great results.”

Gnonto made his senior Azzurri debut against Germany last week, delivering his first assist a few minutes after being subbed on in the second half. Scamacca, 23, scored 16 goals in 38 appearances with Sassuolo in 2021-22.

His contract at the Mapei Stadium runs out in June 2026.

  1. Not a good option for ACM. The player we really need from Sasuolo is Berardi, since we don’t have a right winger.

  2. Scamacca is another invention in Italy. Look how he looked helpless against elite defenders in the match with Milan. Did he at least touch the ball?
Honestly if the option is this guy, I prefer to stick with Giroud and maybe Origi at no.9

  3. He did score a wonder goal in the first leg though. Also scoring 16 goals in the league for a 23 year old in his first full season is not bad. Not bad at all considering he wasn’t starting matches at the start of the season.

I know he still has many defects. He’s a rough diamond that needs time to turn into what he should be, but the talent is there.

  4. If ac Milan wants exchange blows with the heavy weights of European football ,then a striker already in his prime like Christopher nkunku should be the number 1 target ,with scamaca as back up. Milan’s priority overall is players who can play as a number 10 ,a right winger and left winger multi purpose, like Gerald deluofeo ,di Maria ,BERRADI to reduce the dependency on rafeal leao.
