Sassuolo are negotiating a double deal with Gremio for midfielder Matheus Henrique and defender Ruan Tressoldi.

According to O Globo and Tuttomercatoweb, the talks are progressing well for both players to make a move to Serie A at the Mapei Stadium.

Matheus Henrique is seen as the natural heir to Manuel Locatelli, assuming of course that the Italy international does leave for Juventus this summer.

Meanwhile, Ruan is a 22-year-old centre-back whose contract expires in December 2022.

Torino have also been linked with Ruan, but Sassuolo would be the favourites, especially if they already do the deal for his teammate.

It had been reported that Sassuolo were close to a deal for Matheus Henrique worth €12m plus bonuses.

Adding Ruan would take the total sum to almost €20m, but O Globo suggest the defender could remain at Gremio on loan until the end of December 2021.

There are also some concerns around Ruan, because Novo Hamburg own 40 per cent of his rights.
