Sassuolo-Pescara result reversed!

The result of Sassuolo-Pescara will be reversed from 2-1 to 0-3 following the illegal signing of Antonino Ragusa.

The Neroverdi did away with the newly-promoted team on Sunday, snatching the top of the rankings in Serie A with a full six points in two games.

But it seems their joy may be short-lived, because of the fielding of Ragusa in the last 20 minutes of the match.

The midfielder was signed from Cesena on August 26, but only after the official submission of Sassuolo's 25-man squad to the Lega Calcio.

But it seems their joy may be short-lived, because of the fielding of Ragusa in the last 20 minutes of the match.

The midfielder was signed from Cesena on August 26, but only after the official submission of Sassuolo's 25-man squad to the Lega Calcio.

The club was supposed to notify the Lega that one of the 25 players in their squad was being replaced with a new signing, and apparently they never did.

The matter is contentious as Sassuolo themselves are adamant that they did submit the notice. An appeal is to be expected, meaning the ruling could still be overturned.

The decision to change the result into a 3-0 victory for Pescara stems entirely from the Lega. Pescara, for their own part, had not presented any complaint or legal action after the game.
